Pawsome experience as Canberra welcomes cat fair

US cat judge Steven Meserve.

Billed as a pawsome experience, the Oz Feline Fair is coming to Canberra this weekend.

Promoted as Australia’s first National Cat Convention, the fair will feature cat-centric festivities.

It’s  the brainchild of US cat judge Steven Meserve, who has garnered a 20-million strong TikTok following through blending entertainment with education and who founded the organisation Loving Cats Worldwide, which aims to provide education on cat ownership and ethical breeding.

Part of the weekend will be the CATstravaganza, where up to 130 cats will compete for titles such as Best in Breed and Best in Show, with five top cat judges, including Meserve. Pedigreed and domestic cats are eligible to enter, provided they are registered with a recognised Australian cat-governing body.

There’ll even be a catwalk where attendees can compete for the best cat costume.
