Denman Prospect man charged with robbery and thefts

A 38-year-old Denman Prospect man has been charged following a robbery in Woden and multiple thefts in Fyshwick.

Police allege that on October 16 the man attempted to leave a Woden store without paying for an item and threatening a security guard before fleeing.

Police believe the same man was involved in thefts at a Fyshwick hardware store on October 26 and on November 1, where items valued at more than $1300 were allegedly stolen.

The man was arrested in a Fyshwick car park on Monday afternoon. He was driving while his licence was suspended and the car was unregistered and uninsured.

He faces initial charges of robbery, minor theft, driving while disqualified, using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and failing to provide particulars of driver. Police expect the man to face additional minor theft charges following allegations he has been involved in thefts totalling more than $20,000 from businesses across the ACT and Queanbeyan over the past six months.
