Couple charged with stealing from recycling bins

A man and woman are facing aggravated burglary charges after allegedly stealing items from recycling bins at the Mitchell Resource Management Centre early on Wednesday morning.

At about 4.50am police found a 42-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman walking towards a vehicle while allegedly carrying stolen items.

A search of their vehicle located six laptops, 12 car batteries, a mobile telephone and a quantity of scrap metal.

Police say it is an offence to steal items that have been donated or disposed of at a business or waste management facility.
