Abandoned baby: police seek dashcam footage

Police are looking for dash-cam footage of a blue SUV after a newborn baby was found abandoned outside the South Tuggeranong ACT Fire and Rescue Station in Conder on Thursday morning.

Following information provided by the public, police now believe a blue SUV-type vehicle was at the fire station, at the roundabout of Tharwa Drive and Drakeford Drive, before 7.20 am.

Investigators are urging anyone who has dash-cam footage of the fire station between 5am and 7.30am on Thursday to come forward.

Concerned for the health and welfare of the baby’s mother, police say they are still trying to identify her and provide her with appropriate medical support. They urge her to go to a hospital, ring an ambulance or contact police.

Anyone who can assist police should provide their details to the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
