THE future of waste collection in the ACT will encompass all collection services including household waste, recycling, green waste and a bulky waste collection service, while also supporting the future city-wide FOGO collection service.

The ACT government has released draft waste collection service tender documentation for the territory’s household waste collection service contract, which will be presented to industry members on Thursday. 

The government said, due to the size and complexity of the eight-year tender, it will provide a two-week open comment period to allow time for explanation or revision. The open comment period would inform prospective tenderers of the government’s objectives.

The tender was expected to be released within two months of the close of the open comment period and contracts signed this year.
