Man charged after blade threat in Civic

A 40-year-old man has been charged with threatening to kill a patron with a blade at a Civic entertainment venue on Saturday night.

About 8.40pm, the man allegedly entered the venue on Cooyong Street wearing a face covering and approached patrons in the foyer.

Police will allege he produced a blade, threatened to kill a male patron and held the blade against the man’s neck.

The man then allegedly attempted to leave the premises, forcefully kicking a door open as he left.

Police located the man on Bunda Street, where he was allegedly still holding the blade. He was arrested without further incident.

The man, who was subject to bail conditions, has been charged with threatening to kill, possessing an offensive weapon, assault and affray.
