The ACT Government says it will spend $29.8 million on climate action, environmental programs and energy-efficiency initiatives as part of the 2026-27 Budget.
The package includes an expansion of the Home Energy Support Program, with rebates continuing for rooftop solar, hot water systems, insulation and energy-efficient heating and cooling upgrades.
Loan caps under the Sustainable Household Scheme will increase to $20,000 for new participants, while electric cargo bikes will become eligible for financing through the scheme from September.
Additional funding will also go to community environmental groups, including Landcare ACT, the National Parks Association of the ACT and ACT Wildlife, as well as an expanded ACT Environment Grants program.
The Budget includes funding for water-efficiency upgrades in homes, schools, businesses and public facilities, along with measures to strengthen the ACT’s biosecurity response capability.
More than $10 million of the package will support development and implementation of a new Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan, which the Government says will focus on community resilience, transport and urban planning.
