Belconnen unit fire deemed as homicide

A 46-year-old woman who died in a unit fire in Belconnen last week was the victim of a homicide, police say.

Emergency services were called to Osborne Place about 6.40am on May 18, where 46-year-old Kylee McHugh was found dead inside the unit.

Homicide Squad detectives are now appealing for information about Ms McHugh’s movements and contacts in the days before her death.

Police are also seeking dash-cam and CCTV footage recorded between 9pm on May 17 and 7am on May 18 in the area bounded by College Street, Haydon Drive, Belconnen Way and Eastern Valley Way.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police via Crime Stoppers.
