The storm season has officially ended, with emergency crews responding to more than 800 incidents across the ACT since late 2025.
Figures released on Thursday show the ACT State Emergency Service handled hundreds of requests for assistance, largely driven by overland flooding and widespread storm damage.
ACTSES said volunteers maintained a high operational tempo throughout the season as severe weather events repeatedly impacted the Canberra region.
The response was supported by a co-ordinated effort across agencies, including ACT Fire & Rescue, the ACT Rural Fire Service and the City and Environment Directorate, allowing resources to be deployed quickly during peak demand.
ACTSES Chief Officer Steve Forbes said the conditions experienced were exactly what volunteers train for.
“They expect challenging conditions, and they genuinely thrive on supporting their community when it matters most,” he said.
Despite the official end of the season, ACTSES said volunteers would continue training year-round to maintain readiness for future emergencies.
