Three teens charged over knife incidents

The knife police seized from a teenager in Braddon.

Three 14-year-old boys, including one who was subject to bail conditions, have been arrested in separate incidents involving alleged knife possession in Braddon and Oxley overnight.

Police say about 6.40pm on Wednesday , officers received reports of a youth wearing a balaclava and allegedly carrying a knife in Braddon.

A 14-year-old boy matching the description was later located on Mort Street. Police searched him and found a knife concealed in his clothing, along with gloves and a face covering.

He was arrested and charged with possessing a knife without a reasonable excuse.

In a separate incident about 10pm, police were called to a disturbance in Oxley.

It’s alleged two 14-year-old boys, one of whom was subject to bail conditions, called out to a man running in the area and threw a glass bottle at him.

A short time later, the man returned to the address with two relatives. During the interaction, police allege the two boys threatened the group with knives.

Police attended and arrested both youths, who have each been charged with possessing an offensive weapon.
