Explosion probe at Holder Oval

Police are investigating the detonation of a pipe bomb at Holder Oval early Thursday morning.

At about 5am multiple residents reported hearing an explosion from the direction of the oval.

Around 9.45am, a member of the public found a suspicious item on the oval. Police established a cordon after assessing the object as a possible homemade explosive device.

Specialists from the AFP Bomb Team confirmed it was not dangerous and forensic officers seized the device for further investigation.

Anyone who noticed suspicious activity near Holder Oval around 5am on Thursday, or who has information about the device, is urged to contact police via crimestoppersact.com.au.
