A sawn-off shotgun, a pair of knuckle dusters and a taser have been seized by police following the arrest of a 20-year-old man in Hume late on Thursday night.

Alerted by NSW Police that a vehicle had failed to stop for them and had entered the ACT, police located the car in Hume, where they arrested a 20-year-old man.

A search of his possessions revealed a taser device and a pair of metal knuckle dusters.

Following a search of the area, police also found a backpack (that they allege belonged to the man) that contained a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition, a ballistic vest and handcuffs.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court charged with possessing a prohibited firearm, two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon without authorisation and possession of ammunition.
