Taylor woman charged with 30 emergency hoax calls

A 41-year-old Taylor woman is facing court charged with making more than 30 hoax calls to emergency services.

Between November last year and October, police allege the woman called support services and reported fictitious emergencies that were then referred to police.

Police attended these incidents but did not find anyone in need of assistance.

On Friday, police searched the woman’s home and charged her with making a false statement to cause public alarm.

Police say it is an offence under ACT and Commonwealth legislation to make a false report to police, to cause police or other emergency service resources to be wasted or to use a telephone service to harass a person.
