Police patrolling Lonsdale Street in Braddon were alerted to a man running across multiple lanes of traffic in nearby Cooyong Street on Tuesday afternoon.

When officers caught up to the man, he allegedly punched one in the head.

The man fled again but was arrested a short time later, and allegedly became aggressive towards police.

The 31-year-old Gungahlin man has been charged with assault frontline community service provider, attempted assault frontline community service provider, resist territory public official, affray and breach of good behaviour obligations.
