A 22-year-old man allegedly assaulted a woman at the Dickson shops on Monday afternoon, before leaving with their baby.

Police found the Dickson man and the baby a short time later.

He was arrested and charged with aggravated common assault, contravening a family violence order and choking, suffocating and strangling another person.

On Monday morning police had given the man a criminal caution for breach of the peace after a call from a female at an apartment complex in Dickson.
