Drugs and machete in drunk driver’s car

Drugs and a machete sized by police following the arrest of a repeat drink driver in Taylor.

Police have seized drugs and a machete following the arrest of a repeat drink driver in Taylor on Sunday afternoon.

The white Volkswagen Golf was seized and a police search on Monday revealed a machete, a bayonet, 30 grams of suspected methylamphetamine and 28 buprenorphine strips.

He returned a positive breath analysis reading of 0.171, more than three times the legal limit.

Police say the man, who has had his driving licence suspended for the fourth time in under three months for drink driving, has been charged with repeated drink driving and driving with an immediate suspension notice, with further charges expected to be laid.

He faces the ACT Magistrates Court next month.
