On bail, drunk and on wrong side of the road

A 24-year-old Belconnen man on bail and drunk has been charged after colliding head-on with another car on Friday night in Long Gully Road, Isaacs.

Police allege the driver of a white Toyota Hilux was travelling east bound on Long Gully Road at speed and on the wrong side of the road.

The Hilux then collided head-on with a blue Hyundai, sending it into a metal barrier.

The Hyundai driver and his young daughter were taken to hospital.

Police arrested the driver of the Hilux and at Canberra Hospital he recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.173.

The man faces charges of negligent driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, not giving assistance following a collision and breach of bail.
