A 29 year-old man on bail has been charged with 11 offences after an attempted burglary and impersonating police in Rivett on Saturday morning.
It is alleged the man attempted to gain access to a residence in Rivett by posing as a detective. When the resident asked the man to produce identification he failed to do so. It is then alleged the man removed a metal hatchet from his pocket and tried to open the front door.
Police caught the man as he was walking away from the incident.
A search revealed bladed weapons, that police suspected were associated with committing burglaries and suspected stolen property. He was arrested and charged with obstructing/resisting a territory public official, possessing/using a prohibited weapon, going equipped for theft, attempted aggravated burglary and falsely representing a territory public official.
He faces the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.
