
Ahead of its formal budget presentation, the ACT government has announced it is spending more than $15 million on tourism and community events, including the “revitalisation” of Telstra Tower.
The government plans to spend on:
- Continued operational support for the Canberra Convention Bureau
- An Aviation Stimulus Fund to improve flight access to the capital
- Continuing the Major Events Fund
- Support for core activities of Brand Canberra, the National Capital Educational Tourism Project, and in-market tourism representation
- Additional funding to deliver and enhance major events including Enlighten, Floriade and New Year’s Eve, and the return of Windows to the World in 2025
The government will also support the revitalisation of Telstra Tower and is working towards finalising an operational agreement with Telstra.
The budget also includes funding to continue the ACT’s international engagement activities, including trade missions, business export support and international partnerships with a focus on business, education and tourism.
