A 30-year-old Macgregor man has been arrested after allegedly threatening staff at the Woden JB Hi-Fi store with a butane blowtorch.

Police say the man picked up a display vacuum and carried it around the store on Tuesday afternoon. When approached, he allegedly held up a butane blowtorch towards staff and threatened them.

The man left the store with the vacuum after again threatening security staff.

Police arrested the man on Wednesday morning in a bathroom at Westfield Woden.

He was charged with aggravated robbery (offensive weapon).
