Community consultation has opened on plans for a new suburb in Canberra’s north-west that could accommodate around 3000 homes.
Ginninderra East, covering about 240 hectares of former CSIRO agricultural land between Belconnen and Gungahlin, is expected to include a school, sporting ovals, parks, shops and community facilities, alongside a protected nature reserve.
The ACT government says at least 15 per cent of the homes will be affordable housing, including public and community housing.
The government has secured the land from the Commonwealth and is seeking community feedback to inform a Major Plan Amendment for the site.
Residents are being asked for their views on public spaces, shops, services, parks and nature areas.
Feedback can be provided through an online survey, community pop-up events or by expressing interest in joining the Ginninderra East Community Panel.
More information is available on the Ginninderra East YourSay website.
