The ACT government’s $53 million expansion of Telopea Park School has received broad community support, with plans for new classrooms, sporting facilities and additional parking moving towards the development application stage.
A pre-development application consultation report released today found support for the project, which includes new general and specialist learning spaces, a multipurpose hall with a double gymnasium, 81 additional parking spaces and improved landscaping.
The six-week consultation involved almost 250 face-to-face conversations with residents, students, parents and businesses, while the project webpage attracted more than 1000 visits.
Participants welcomed the proposed expansion and opportunities for community access to the new sporting and multipurpose facilities.
The government says the feedback will help shape the development application following approval of a Major Plan Amendment in September.
The community will have another opportunity to comment when detailed plans and technical documents are released through the development application process through the Telopea Park School Expansion and Modernisation Project website.
