The ACT Government will remove and replace 43 trees at Lennox Gardens over the coming weeks as part of a renewal program aimed at improving the long-term health of the park’s urban forest.

The trees have been identified as over-mature, structurally unsound, dead or in poor health and will be replaced with species better suited to the site.

In Canberra Nara Peace Park, replanting will follow a traditional Japanese garden design developed with the Friends of Nara Park, while the peninsula area will be replanted with a mix of conifer species to improve canopy diversity and resilience.

Lennox Gardens will remain open during the works, although temporary pedestrian and cyclist detours will be in place. Timber from the removed trees will be reused for government and community projects or processed into mulch.
