Seven teens charged after stolen car pursuit

Seven teenagers have been charged after allegedly driving at a police officer and ramming a police vehicle while trying to escape in two stolen cars.

Police say officers located a stolen Volkswagen T-Roc in Gungahlin about 8pm on Thursday. The vehicle was later seen alongside a stolen Volkswagen Polo in Watson.

When police attempted to block the vehicles in a cul-de-sac, the drivers allegedly mounted the kerb, drove at an officer deploying tyre deflation devices and struck a police vehicle.

Both vehicles fled, but the Polo stopped a short distance away and its four female occupants were arrested. The T-Roc was later found in Kingston, where its three male occupants were arrested nearby.

The teenagers, aged between 14 and 19, have been charged with offences including driving and riding in stolen vehicles, driving at police, failing to stop for police and driving while disqualified.

Police say four of the teenagers were already subject to bail conditions or good behaviour orders at the time of their arrest.
