A 51-year-old man has been arrested following the death of a woman in a home in O’Connor, Canberra, after a stabbing incident on Thursday morning.

About 8.45am emergency services were called to a residence on Dryandra Street after reports that a man had allegedly stabbed a female relative with a knife.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene for critical injuries, but she died on the way to hospital.

Police say that a second man, also a resident of the home, was taken to hospital with injuries sustained during the incident.
