Woman allegedly drove kids at 8× alcohol limit

A Holt woman has been charged after allegedly driving with three young children in her car while more than eight times the legal alcohol limit.

Police say they received multiple reports between 5pm and 7.30pm on Thursday of a grey Kia Sorento being driven erratically on Wattle Street and Ginninderra Drive in Lyneham.

The vehicle allegedly mounted gutters, swerved across lanes, accelerated and braked suddenly, and at one point reversed into a parked vehicle before leaving the scene.

Police located the SUV about 8pm as it reversed out of a driveway in Macgregor. Officers found the 36-year-old woman in the driver’s seat with three young children in the vehicle, who police believe had been in the car throughout the incident.

The woman, who police say was on bail for similar offences, allegedly returned a breath analysis reading of 0.416 after her arrest. She has been charged with drink driving, driving under the influence of liquor, driving while her licence was suspended, failing to provide particulars after a crash causing property damage, and breaching bail conditions.
