Two men have been charged with weapons offences following separate arrests in Canberra on Friday.

Police stopped a Mercedes-Benz on Erindale Drive about 5pm and allegedly found the 31-year-old Monash driver was disqualified from driving and tested positive to a prescribed drug.

Officers later searched his Monash home, allegedly finding knuckle dusters, an extendable baton, two imitation handguns, ball bearings and an item capable of using gas to fire projectiles.

The man has been charged with three counts of possessing a prohibited firearm, two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, drug driving, driving while disqualified and breaching a good behaviour order.

About 11.45pm, police stopped a BMW at a Watson service station and allegedly found a 28-year-old Ainslie passenger was breaching court-ordered reporting obligations.

Police allegedly found two folding imitation firearms, ammunition, an empty firearm magazine, about $800 cash and suspected cannabis, heroin and methylamphetamine among his possessions.

He has been charged with two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, possessing ammunition, possessing property suspected of being proceeds of crime and breaching bail.

Police say enquiries into the suspected drugs are continuing.
