A 19-year-old man has been assaulted during an attempted armed robbery in Charnwood Thursday night.
Police say about 9.10pm, a stolen white Land Rover Discovery stopped on Grono Place and two men wearing black clothing and face coverings got out of the vehicle.
The pair allegedly approached the teenager in his car and attempted to steal his mobile phone and vehicle.
During the incident, one man allegedly assaulted him with a knife while the other struck him on the head with a firearm, before the offenders fled on foot.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment after being assessed by paramedics at the scene. The Land Rover had been reported stolen earlier that day from Melba.
Anyone who witnessed the attempted robbery or has dash-cam footage should contact police via Crime Stoppers.
