A 47-year-old Campbell man has been charged after allegedly driving twice on a suspended licence within 24 hours, including less than a day after being granted bail with conditions not to drive.

Police said officers on mobile patrol stopped a black BMW SUV on Gooreen Street, Reid, about 11.35pm on Friday.

The driver was allegedly found to be driving while his licence was suspended.

He underwent a roadside drug test, which police said returned a positive result for methylamphetamine and cocaine.

The man was arrested and later granted bail from the ACT Watch House early on Saturday. As part of his bail conditions, he was not to drive or possess vehicle keys.

About 5.25pm on Saturday, officers on mobile patrol in Campbell saw the same BMW travelling along Jacka Crescent before it turned into a nearby driveway and parked.

Police spoke with the driver and confirmed he was the same man arrested the previous night. He was arrested for allegedly breaching his bail conditions.

He has been charged with two counts of driving while suspended, breaching bail and driving with a prescribed drug in his blood.
