A 28-year-old Gordon man has been arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a Holt home and later driving it to a separate police incident in Lyons, where officers found suspected illicit drugs.

Police say they were at a Holt residence on Monday morning following reports a vehicle had been stolen.

That evening officers were at an unrelated incident in Lyons when the allegedly stolen vehicle arrived and the driver approached police.

The man was arrested and searched, with officers locating two clip-seal bags containing about six grams of substances believed to be illicit drugs.

He has been charged with driving a motor vehicle without consent, possessing a drug of dependence and driving while his licence was suspended.
