Former ACT Greens leader and minister Shane Rattenbury has been appointed CEO of Lifeline Canberra and will start in the role on Monday.
Rattenbury, who left the Legislative Assembly in May after 18 years, will also take responsibility for Lifeline Narrm, the organisation’s Melbourne-based crisis support centre.
He served in the Assembly from 2008, including as ACT Greens leader, Attorney-General and the ACT’s first dedicated Minister for Mental Health.
Lifeline Canberra chair Warren Apps says Rattenbury was selected following a comprehensive recruitment process and brings extensive leadership, governance and mental health sector experience.
Rattenbury has supported Lifeline Canberra for more than a decade through events including the Out of the Shadows Walk and its annual gala.
“My first priority will be to listen and learn,” Rattenbury says.
“I want to spend time with the people who make Lifeline Canberra what it is, understand what is working well and where the challenges and opportunities lie.”
