Police seize $500,000 worth of drugs

A Kingston man, released on parole last month, has been charged with drug dealing after police uncovered a large stash of illicit drugs in a Phillip unit.

Police say they received information last week that a man staying in a short-term rental was in possession of significant quantities of drugs and allegedly selling them from the unit.

Officers searched the unit March 17, where they allegedly seized about 470 grams of methylamphetamine, 450 grams of heroin, 40 grams of cocaine and 7 grams of MDMA.

Police also located scales, resealable bags and other items consistent with drug distribution, along with four mobile phones and more than $52,000 in cash. The drugs have an estimated street value of more than $500,000.

The 33-year-old was arrested at a Giralang home on Tuesday night, where further drugs and cash were allegedly found.

He has been charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled drug other than cannabis, as well as possess/supply a drug of dependence, possession of stolen property and possessing a prohibited article without permission.
