A man carrying a bow and knife was stopped by police near Cotter Dam on Monday afternoon.

Police say officers on patrol along Cotter Avenue about 5.10pm were approached by a member of the public who reported a man shooting a bow and arrows near other people.

Police spoke to the man and seized the bow, arrows and a knife.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
