Construction has started on a new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service facility at Erindale, with completion expected in late 2027.

The community-based facility will provide indoor, outdoor and group therapy spaces for children and young people receiving mental health care.

The service is being relocated as part of the Northside Hospital Project because it does not need to operate from an acute hospital campus.

The ACT Government says the Erindale site will provide more space, access to public transport and parking, a connection to nature and capacity for future expansion.

Existing CAMHS programs, including the Cottage Day Program, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Childhood Early Intervention Program, will continue operating during construction.

The programs run five days a week and support young people with their recovery and day-to-day functioning.

Canberra-based Shaw Building Group will build the new facility.
