The ACT government has signed contracts with two companies to introduce new traffic enforcement cameras and replace ageing parking and infringement management systems across Canberra.

Acusensus Australia will supply transportable and fixed cameras capable of detecting road safety offences, while Orikan Australia will deliver a new parking and infringement management system.

The government says the changes are part of a multi-year program to modernise traffic and parking infrastructure, improve enforcement and streamline services for drivers.

Kirra Cox, executive branch manager of Data, Projects and Improvement, says the new technology will replace ageing systems and support road safety and parking operations.

The government has not specified the value of the contracts or when the new systems will become operational.
