More than 150 fines issued over long weekend

More than 150 traffic infringements were issued and 15 drink and drug drivers caught on ACT roads over the long weekend.

Four drivers were detected with alcohol in their system, including a 52-year-old Curtin man who allegedly returned a reading of 0.245 after being stopped for a random breath test in Theodore.

His right to drive was immediately suspended for 90 days.

Police also detected 11 drivers with drugs in their system from 57 roadside drug tests.

On Friday, a 17-year-old provisional driver who had held her licence for five weeks was caught allegedly travelling at 114km/h in a 60km/h zone on William Hovell Drive in Hawker.

She was fined $1891, incurred 12 demerit points during the double-demerit period and had her licence suspended for 180 days.

A 19-year-old Albury man was charged after allegedly failing to stop for police in Wanniassa and driving while disqualified on Saturday. He was arrested in Oxley the following day and his right to drive in the ACT was suspended for 90 days.

On Sunday, a 29-year-old man was caught allegedly travelling at 131km/h in an 80km/h zone on Gungahlin Drive. He was fined $1891, incurred 12 demerit points and had his licence suspended for 180 days.
