Man held for shooting in Belconnen

A 20-year-old Spence man has been charged following an alleged shooting incident in Belconnen earlier this week.

Police allege the man was driving a Ford Focus along Ginninderra Drive in Florey about 9.40pm on Monday when he interacted with a Holden Cruze carrying people known to him.

During the incident, the Ford allegedly rammed the Holden multiple times and a firearm was discharged at the vehicle.

The Holden was later found in the gutter at the intersection of Ginninderra Drive and Kerrigan Street. No one was injured.

Police stopped an Audi on the Federal Highway in Majura about 12.30am on Friday and arrested the 20-year-old, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

A short time later, officers located the Ford Focus at a home in Ngunnawal and seized it for forensic examination.

The man has been charged with discharging a firearm at a car and furious driving.
