Man charged after Mount Ainslie crash

A 27-year-old man has been charged with drink driving offences after a head-on collision at Mount Ainslie caused significant damage to two vehicles.

Police say that at about 8.30pm on Sunday, the man was driving a black Toyota Kluger down Mount Ainslie Drive when it allegedly collided head-on with another vehicle near the base of the mountain.

The crash caused significant damage to both vehicles and blocked the road in both directions.

Emergency services attended the scene and treated the man.

Police allege he became hostile and aggressive towards paramedics and the occupants of the other vehicle.

A roadside alcohol screening test returned a positive result. The man was taken into custody and charged with negligent driving and driving under the influence of liquor.
