A young girl was allegedly pushed from behind and punched by a group of girls at the Civic bus interchange earlier this month.

Police say the group approached the girl near the Platform 4 bus stop on Alinga Street about 7.40pm on August 15 before allegedly assaulting her.

Several members of the public are believed to have witnessed the assault and intervened.

Police are particularly seeking those who assisted the girl, as well as anyone with mobile phone or other video footage of the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
