The ACT Government has released a five-year land supply program aimed at supporting the construction of almost 26,000 new homes across Canberra.
The Housing Supply and Land Release Program 2026-27 to 2030-31 outlines future land releases for housing, as well as commercial, community and mixed-use developments.
The Government says the combination of land releases, planning reforms and spending on public, community and affordable housing is intended to facilitate 30,000 new homes by the end of 2030.
Most of the planned housing is expected to be built within Canberra’s existing urban footprint, close to jobs, transport and services.
The program also identifies future growth areas including the Molonglo Town Centre and Macnamara.
The 2026-27 Budget includes $4.6 million over two years for planning reforms, technical studies and precinct preparation to support housing delivery.
