Five Canberra community gardens will share nearly $40,000 in ACT government grants to establish new gardens and improve existing facilities.
The latest Community Garden Grants Program recipients are the Canberra Environment Centre, which will establish a bush tucker garden featuring native food plants and cultural workshops, and Brigalow Court in O’Connor, which will create a garden with wicking beds, herbs, fruit trees and seating.
Koala Playschool will develop a native, pollinator-friendly garden with seating and a street library, while Uniting Care Kippax will improve drainage, accessibility and garden beds.
Wybalena Grove in Cook will use its grant to expand growing beds, improve pathways and provide shared gardening storage.
The ACT government says it has funded more than 100 community garden projects since 2015.
