A 33-year-old man has been charged over a violent home invasion in Isabella Plains earlier this year.

Police say a group of people forcibly entered a home on February 5, seriously assaulted a man who lived there and fled with a safe, which was later found abandoned in Greenway.

Four people have already been charged in relation to the incident.

Police arrested a fifth suspect in Braddon on Tuesday before searching his home.

During the search, officers seized ammunition, a large quantity of suspected methylamphetamine, two large knives, cash and items allegedly linked to drug trafficking.

The man has been charged with procuring aggravated burglary, possessing ammunition, trafficking a controlled substance other than cannabis and breaching parole obligations. Investigations are continuing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police via The Crime Stoppers ACT website.
