Telecommunications fibre optic cables were damaged during an early-morning incident in Wanniassa, disrupting internet services to the area.

The damage occurred between 1am and 3am on Tuesday, January 13, when fibre optic cables in two telecommunications pits off Athllon Drive were interfered with.

The pits are located along Athllon Drive between Atkins Street and Fincham Crescent.

The incident caused disruption to local internet services.

Police are seeking information from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area during the early hours.
