Seven disaster preparedness projects across the ACT will receive more than $30 million in combined funding to improve flood protection, bushfire detection and community resilience.
The federal government will contribute $11.7 million through the fourth round of its $1 billion Disaster Ready Fund, with another $18.4 million coming from the ACT government and project partners.
The funding will support improvements to stormwater infrastructure, nature-based flood mitigation and camera-based bushfire detection systems.
Five ACT-based projects will receive support, comprising two infrastructure projects and three initiatives aimed at reducing disaster risks and improving resilience.
The ACT will also lead two projects involving multiple jurisdictions.
The federal government says the funding is intended to help communities prepare for and withstand future natural disasters.
