Employee threatened in alleged Civic robbery

A Latham man has been charged after allegedly threatening a department store employee before stealing mobile phones and other electronic items from a store in Civic.

Police allege the 34-year-old entered the store about 5.45pm on Tuesday seeking assistance to buy electronic items before moving behind the counter and threatening an employee with a black pole.

He allegedly stole three mobile phones, earphones and phone cases before leaving the store.

Police arrested the man in Braddon about 6pm after he allegedly tried to run from officers. They say they recovered the stolen property along with other items suspected of being stolen.

The man has been charged with aggravated robbery with an offensive weapon and unlawful possession of stolen property.
