Elderly man assaulted in his Rivett home

A 22-year-old man has been charged after allegedly assaulting an 82-year-old man in his Rivett home on Monday evening.

Police say the older man and his wife had just returned home about 5.30pm when the 22-year-old allegedly followed them inside.

He allegedly became aggressive towards the couple before pushing the man to the ground, punching him in the face and threatening to kill him.

Witnesses contacted police and the man was arrested at the scene.

The 82-year-old was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

The 22-year-old has been charged with threatening to kill a person, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and refusing to provide a name or address.
