Driver charged over Gungahlin cyclist deaths

A 40-year-old woman has been charged over a collision that killed two cyclists and injured another on Gungahlin Drive last month.

Police say the woman was driving a Hyundai Accent that collided with a group of five cyclists about 6.20am on August 27.

A 32-year-old woman died at the scene, while a 39-year-old man was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died on September 3. Another cyclist was also taken to hospital following the collision.

Following an investigation by the Major Collision Team, police issued the driver with a summons on Friday.

She has been charged with two counts of culpable driving causing death and one count of negligent driving causing actual bodily harm.
