Police have suspended licences, seized vehicles and laid charges against several motorists during a week of dangerous driving offences across Canberra.

Among the most serious incidents, a 19-year-old provisional driver from Gungahlin had his car seized and licence suspended after allegedly travelling at 158km/h on Horse Park Drive on Sunday. He will be summonsed to court.

A 21-year-old Waramanga motorcyclist had his licence suspended for 180 days after allegedly riding at 154km/h on Gungahlin Drive, while another motorcycle learner was caught allegedly travelling at 138km/h on Barry Drive after holding a learner permit for just three months.

Police also charged a 38-year-old Bonython man with drug driving and driving while disqualified after stopping his Mercedes in Fadden on Saturday evening.

On Sunday, a 33-year-old Calwell man was charged with drug driving, speeding, following another vehicle too closely and breaching a good behaviour order after he was stopped on William Hovell Drive.

Other motorists were fined after allegedly travelling 100km/h in a 60km/h Monaro Highway roadworks zone and 131km/h on Gungahlin Drive.

The latest offences follow several serious incidents last week, including a 17-year-old P-plater allegedly caught 70km/h over the speed limit on Tuggeranong Parkway, a disqualified driver arrested in Canberra’s north, and a woman whose licence was suspended after allegedly speeding by more than 60km/h on the Monaro Highway.
