A 42-year-old Chisholm man has been charged with possessing child-abuse material after Australian Border Force officers allegedly found exploitation imagery on his electronic devices.
Police say the man was stopped for examination after arriving in Sydney on an international flight in May, when officers allegedly found child-exploitation imagery and inappropriate conversations on a messaging app.
Further investigations by border officers allegedly revealed multiple money transfers to a teenager in Europe.
The matter was referred to police, who searched the man’s Chisholm home on Thursday and allegedly found further child-abuse material on a USB device connected to his computer.
The man has been charged with two counts of possessing child-abuse material.
Police say further analysis of the seized devices is continuing and additional charges may be laid.
Anyone with information about child-abuse material is urged to contact police via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
