Police have seized the cars of two young drivers – one an unaccompanied learner and the other a provisional licence holder – caught street racing in Greenway on Saturday night.

Police allege that about 11.10pm, officers in an unmarked vehicle travelling on Drakeford Drive spotted two Volkswagen Jetta sedans racing each other.

During the incident, both vehicles allegedly reached speeds of up to 148km/h in an 80km/h zone before police were able to stop them.

Both vehicles were seized and the drivers, both 18-year-old men will be summonsed for traffic offences.
